Numerous pieces of Georgian embroideries were worked in gold and silver threads. "The gold is a symbol of light; as a gold is an absolute metaphor of light, so is light an absolute metaphor of God. God is a light and there is not dark in it. That is the common in gold and light." That is one of the causes, why gold was used for embroidering and why the course is called "The Golden Embroidery".
