School of Design Discussion List - GUIDELINES(see below)

Mission: "To assist in the on-going education of those in the Embroidery industry by providing design and digitizing advice and resources."

Design List Guidelines:

Welcome to the EU's Design discussion group. We want you to feel at home, so please take the time to read these guidelines.

The purpose of these guidelines is two-fold:

    1. To keep the list focused on the mission topic above, while keeping it legal and civil.
    2. To keep the physical volume of the list manageable by asking our Listers to reduce broad communications and redundant copies of letters.

All e-mails are immediately sent for distribution to the list subscribers. The Design List is not MODERATED but is MONITORED by 3 advisors. Polite reminders will be sent to individual Listers by one of the advisors if the guidelines are ignored. If someone continues to ignore the guidelines the advisors will confer on the issue. It is possible that the subscriber will be removed from the list permanently. The following are the guidelines that will govern this list:

    1. Post only on design topics. Avoid personal topics, jokes, stories, etc.
    2. Do not use Attachments of any kind.
    3. Don’t do business on the list. Looking to buy or sell your machine or piece of software on a one time basis is OK, but soliciting real business is a no-no.
    4. Do not post messages containing harassing or discriminatory wording, or containing sexually explicit, vulgar, or obscene language. Be nice!
    5. Do not post tiny replies, such as "I agree" or "Attaboy!" (end of message). (Send these directly to the Lister, if you must.)
    6. Replies that needlessly copy the entire prior email. In case you don't know this – Most browsers are set by default (in the Preferences or Options section) to automatically make a copy of the entire prior message, including the routing information. This extra volume makes the list take longer to transmit, fills up everyone's hard drive, and mostly isn't necessary. It is especially burdensome for the Archives. If you have to quote, delete everything that is not relevant to your reply.

Topic headers are extremely helpful in organizing a list so please use the following headers before the Subject title. For example:

ART: Design related DIG: Digitizing questions

HLP: Any topic related to design

NOC: Not otherwise classified

OPR: technical questions pertaining to the actual running of the design.

SOF: Digitizing software specific

This list is monitored by the School of Design's List Advisors
